Tip From the Archives
Puff of Sand
Problem
You want to improve your sand shots.
Cure
A common problem players have in the sand is not taking a strong enough swing to move the sand out of the bunker and therefore the ball as well. Work on creating a splash as you hit the ball out of the bunker.
Therapy
The best way to improve your bunker shots is to set aside time to practice out of a bunker. Enter the sand an inch or more behind the ball. Be certain to end your swing with the majority of your bodyweight on your forward leg. You know you have hit a good sand shot when you see the ball flying out of the bunker on a puff of sand.
