Proper Footing
Problem
It is the start of a new season and you cannot remember your proper foot placement or need to learn.
Cure
A good swing needs a solid foundation or footing. When you are practicing, make sure that your feet are wide enough apart to make you feel stable but be careful, if your feet are too far apart then it will change your swing.
Therapy
Use some sidewalk chalk and draw a V-shape so that the point is away from you or if in your backyard, use some spray paint on the grass. Place your left foot onto the left side of the V and your right onto the right side of the V. Move to the point that the inside of your ankles are a little further apart than the outer point of your hips. Mark this point on the ground with a D for driver. Move your feet up on the V so that the inside of your ankles are at the same point of your outer hips. Mark this point with an L for long irons. Just between the D and the L, mark an F for fairway woods. Now stand so that the inside of your heels are aligned with the outside of your hips. Mark this point with an M for midirons. The distance between your legs should become narrower as you move down to the shorter irons. When using a wedge, your feet can become narrow enough so that the outside of your ankles are the same distance as the outside of your hips. Just keep in mind that the fuller swing you take, the wider the stance necessary to help provide support for your momentum. Now stand at the driver mark on the V and extend your dominate arm with your driver in your hand so that the driver touches the ground. Mark that point with a coin or a golf ball. Repeat this action with all of your clubs to mark the distance between your feet and how far away the clubhead should be for each club.
