Practice Wisely
Problem
You want to increase your chances of winning your next round.
Cure
One of the biggest problems that the average player has is that they do not practice before starting their round. Taking practice swings before hitting your next shot on the course helps but you should also hit at least a bucket of balls before you start your round. Keep in mind that professional golfers practice for one to three hours before playing their round.
Therapy
Even if you do not get to go to the range, you can always practice putting and chipping at home. Practice putting and chipping on different carpets in your home. The majority of stokes added to your scorecard occurs during the short game; so remember spend extra time practicing this aspect of your game. Chances are, you will need to use a wiffle or a foam ball when chipping inside. Practice full swings with or without a ball. Practicing without a ball builds confidence, muscle strength and improves your tempo. Simply hitting a bucket of balls on the range will not improve your game because these balls are disposable to you so it does not matter as much if you hit them well. Hit every ball in the bucket as if it is a new one that you have to find and reuse. Remember to repeat your preshot routine often. Focus on where your target is and try your best to land within twenty yards of it. Keep a log in a notebook where your shot went; include club used, distance, and direction. Review the results to see where you need extra improvement.
