Posture Killer
Problem
You often come up short when putting, see too much spin, or discover that you are standing straighter than you were at setup.
Cure
Two common causes for this is that you pick your head up to read the putt after you have set up to the ball or because you stand up before you finish your stroke.
Therapy
Check to see if you are picking your head up when you are reading your putt. This will cause you to change the posture you had at setup. Instead of picking your head up to double check your line, look at the ball and then turn your head to follow along the ground to see where your putter is aimed. Once you have returned to look at the ball, look past the ball and forward again. This will help you visualize the stroke you need for this putt. Some players perceive that their putt is finished after they have made contact with the ball. You will then stand up too quickly and lose distance. Focus on keeping your head down until you have matched the same length of a forward stroke as you used during your backstroke.
