Posture Checkup
Problem
You need to learn a quick and easy way to check your posture or you want to try to correct a flaw in your swing with no known cause.
Cure
Proper posture will support the correct weight shift and a more natural release throughout impact. You need to maintain your spine angle from address all the way to the point of contact. If you do not stand tall enough or stand too upright, it will cause the clubface to come in at an incorrect angle or height and cause poor ball striking.
Therapy
Set up so that you are comfortably standing straight with your knees flexed and allow your spine to tilt towards the ball. Now lift the club upwards; now double check spine angle that you established at set up. Slowly lower the club until it touches the ground. Did your spine remain tilted at the same angle during this drill? If it did not, try readjusting your spine angle so that it is a little more natural and relaxed. Repeat the drill several times until you are certain that your tilted spine angle does not change. Now test your spine angle in motion. Use an empty box that is over a foot high with something inside to weigh it down, such as a flat bag of sand and swing at it. Compare your spine angle at the point of contact with the angle you established at set up.
