Pooling Water

Problem

You are one of the last groups in a tournament to play. You feel that you are at a disadvantage because it just rained really hard after several other groups have finished playing.

Cure

Try not to compare your playing conditions to the other players in the tournament. If you dwell on this fact, you will truly believe that you are at a disadvantage and setting yourself up for failure. The fact is, is that it is wet outside and it is something that you have no control over. What you do have control over is seeing the positive side of this situation and playing your best game possible.

Therapy

Pay attention to where the water pools on the green after a rain shower. This is a great indicator where the lowest points of the green are and where the ball is most likely to stop rolling after a chip. Think of this area as a magnet under the green for your ball because if the water is pooling there, you know your ball will be attracted to it as well. It is also a great way to know where the higher spots on the green are because if the water is not settling in this area, you know that the area around it must be higher.
