Tip From the Archives
Play Dead
Problem
You need to get the tension out of your arms and hands.
Cure
Pretend you are an actor in a play and someone just picked your body up off of the ground while you are unconscious. Imagine how you would allow your arms to simply hang limp. This is the feeling you want to experience before teeing off.
Therapy
Hold your arms straight out to your side. Shake your hands and imagine that your fingers are a bunch of limp noodles. Increase the speed you are shaking your hands until your fingers as if they are vibrating. Now simply let your arms drop down to your sides using gravity alone. Notice how quickly they drop to your sides without using any effort. Use this feeling in your downswing.
I know when I am tense because I go right of the tee, far right! I never thought about doing this and will try it. It usually takes me about 4 holes to get loose and it would be nice for it to only take 2 holes.
