Pitching Too Short

Problem

You normally aim for the hole and this encourages the ball to land before reaching the hole.

Cure

So, if you normally pitch the ball short of the hole then you need to focus at the top of the flag as you take your pitch shots.

Therapy

If you have plenty of green to work with, then take a lower and more controlled swing with your pitching wedge or 9 iron. This way you will have a little extra roll to help you reach the hole. Center the ball in your stance. Take a narrow and slightly open stance. Keep your hands ahead of the ball as you take a three quarter backswing. Hit down onto the ball while making sure that you are accelerating through the impact zone without hinging your wrists.
