Opponent Frustration
Problem
You have an opponent that plays better when you play horrible.
Cure
The reason the opponent plays better is because on some level they were able to relax due to the results of your game. That might be because you no longer pose a threat to them or because watching you make mistakes are humorous to them. Perhaps your frustration looks like tantrums to them; so make sure you hide your frustration by imagining that you hit a great shot before you leave your follow through position. This will improve our mood and visualization skills throughout the round. Your confidence will rattle your opponent and boost your game to a different level.
Therapy
Whatever their reason is or if your game really matters to them is not relevant. What is important is that you plan out your shots better and play within your own abilities. Having reachable goals is critical to playing well under pressure. Planning out your shots before playing the course will help take the pressure off of you. Doing this the night before is great but you need to reanalyze your plans as you practice before your round starts. Pull out the score card and play the round at the range using your plans. Play the most difficult holes by imagining that you are teeing off and decide where it would have landed on the course. Mark your scorecard so you can remember and imagine that you are hitting from that location. After each hole, decide if your strategy is within your skill level and readjust your plans from there.
