Move Under
Problem
You want to work on your sand shots but do not have a bunker available to play out of.
Cure
Tee the ball and practice moving the clubface under the ball.
Therapy
Tee the ball. Either place a couple of extra tees or arrange a circle of plastic toothpicks in the ground on both sides of the tee. This will give a little resistance to help provide the feeling that you are moving into the sand and under the ball. Set up as usual for a sand shot. Since you are not suppose to ground your club in the sand, remember to hover the club at ball level a little over an inch behind the ball. Make a powerful downward blow and try to knock out all of the toothpicks so you can move under the ball, use the bounce of the club, and get the loft you need.
A good idea, however a toothpick in the eye would certainly slow up the lesson! Might I suggest breaking a piece of polystyrene foam and using the 'bubbles' in lieu of toothpicks. Then you can tee up indoors even during the winter. You can vacuum up the bubbles and re-use them using a clean vacuum bag or a car vac.
