Tip From the Archives
Miss the Tee
Problem
You have a hard time hitting out of the deep rough.
Cure
Practice on coming in very steep, on top of the ball.
Therapy
Keep a firm grip pressure on the club to help prevent the club from turning in the grass. You should place the ball near the back of your stance. With the ball deep in the rough, practice hitting down on the ball from a steep angle. To help encourage a descending blow set up a tee about a foot behind the ball. Set more of your body weight on your forward leg. Now simply try to make an aggressive downswing into the ball without contacting the tee. If you are not making a steep enough swing, you will hit the tee.
