Tip From the Archives
Mid Backswing Position
Problem
You are having accuracy problems.
Cure
Be certain that your body angle is not changing during the swing from your setup position. Because if your body position changes, it will make it too difficult for you to return the clubhead so that it is square to the target.
Therapy
Practice swinging with one of your mid irons. Stop your swing once you have taken it halfway back, into the backswing to make sure your body is positioned correctly. The wrist on your forward arm should be flat and the end of the shaft of the club should be pointing down towards the ball. Check your trailing elbow position; you do not want it flying up. This elbow, as well as your hands should be in front of your body. If you find your hands positioned too far away from your chest, work on creating more of a shoulder turn.
