Tip From the Archives
Mental Focus
Problem
You lose your mental focus shortly after you set up to the ball and hit inconsistently.
Cure
Do not constantly stare at the ball as you set up. This will only increase your anxiety level, the tension in your arms, and make you want to hit at the ball instead of through it.
Therapy
Before setting up to the ball, stand behind it and visualize the ball landing at a specific location instead of just at the center of the fairway. While you make adjustments in your stance, you should keep looking at the target. This will help you enhance your mental image of the target, provide confidence in your shot, and improve the odds that the ball will land in your target area.
