Lower Back Pain

Problem

Your lower back hurts after a round of golf.

Cure

Make sure you are not taking too quick of a backswing, causing instability and poor swing mechanics throughout the rest of the swing. Try doing stretches for your lower back, several times a week. While on the course, hold onto the cart while standing about arm length distance away from it. Slowly lower your body by sticking your butt out. You should feel your lower back stretching as you do this.

Therapy

Do not forget to stretch and strengthen your back while at home. Lie on your stomach on the floor with your hands by your side. Keep your legs on the floor as you slowly pick your head off of the floor. Continue to raise your head up until your chest is lifted off of the ground as well. Lower your head back down and repeat a couple of times. Now lie on your back and bend your knees with your feet touching the floor. Slowly lift your butt and lower back off of the ground as far as you can without picking your arms or shoulders off of the floor. Stay in this position for few seconds and repeat. Next, return to the floor, bring your legs to your chest, and wrap your arms around your legs, so you are hugging you legs. Lift your head off of the floor and allow your body to rock back and forth.
