Love Line Grip

Problem

You are wearing out your golf gloves mostly in just one spot where a hole forms.

Cure

Schedule a short personal lesson with a PGA professional and bring your old golf glove with you. They should be able to look where the hole is located and predict what kind of swing error is causing this wear.

Therapy

One common hole is at the lower padding of the palm below your little finger, located just above your wrist. This is often caused by someone gripping the club along the love line of their hand. When you grip the club this way, it will tend to leave a small gap between your little finger and the club. Thus allowing the club to move and rub along this area. You want to bear the weight of the club with first section of your fingers. Open the palm of your gloved hand and move the club towards the first section of your fingers. You want the club to be placed just above your little finger and across the first section of your other fingers. Now close your hand around the club and feel your fingers apply pressure against the heel pad of the hand where you normally show wear in your gloves. You want to be able to see at least two knuckles of your lead hand as you are gripping the club. With the club properly in place, you will now have a better wrist hinge at the top of your swing, greater distance, and straighter ball flight.
