Lost Your Swing
Problem
You have a hard time playing after a long break from golf or you suddenly feel as if you have lost your swing and cannot seem to get the hang of it.
Cure
A good swing needs a solid foundation or stance. It is possible that your swing has not changed but the way you are setting up has. Check your stance to ensure that you are setting up correctly.
Therapy
Double check your alignment, ball placement, spine angle, and knee flex as you set up to the ball. The wrong alignment and swing path can set you up to have many different swing errors. Flexibility and strength has a lot to do with your ability to make a full coil and staying in balance as you do it. Stay fit and flexible even if you do not have the opportunity to play or get to the driving range.
Good suggests. Winter tends to make it difficult. The start of a new season makes you wonder what happened to the swing from last year. Getting into the gym ought to help make that first round in the spring better.
Why not play golf in all kinds of weather? I play if it's cold and frosty, really wet and windy, when most people stay indoors (I live in the UK so that's the norm!) get out on the course if it's open and playable! It keeps your swing going, helps you to play in very hard and very soft/variable ground conditions. Don't be a fair weather golfer! The courses will be quieter and you won't feel as rushed. Make sure you wrap up warm and dry but don't wear restrictive clothing. I have had the whole course to my self because everyone hid for cover from the rain! Great fun! Keep your clubs dry with a towel and take a few gloves!
I have to agree with Don D., and only because I have not yet had the pleasure of playing in the winter season because I only started this wonderful sport this past Spring I cannot know if Winter tends to make it difficult, David. But I was blessed to have played at L'beaurge in Louisiana about a month ago with my brother in-law and a long came some rain. It was a very spiritual experience for me!
I agree with Don Davidson. I live in Oregon and have spent many days on the golf course when it was completely open due to bad weather. The best tip he mentioned was to bring dry towels!!
My husband and I play golf all year and we live in the appalachian mountains. Some people would think we were crazy golfing in the rain or when it's cold but we have alot of fun. It's hard to set up if you are shivering so don't forget to cover your ears, wear long johns under your pants and wear a regular glove with grips on your other hand if you play in chilly tempertures.
