Tip From the Archives
Lofted Draw
Problem
You want to gain a longer tee shot by hitting a high draw.
Cure
Keep your head back and make sure your shoulders are tilted away from the target at setup and impact to encourage a steeper swing.
Therapy
Use a wider stance and a stronger grip. You know you have a strong grip if you can see three or even four knuckles on your forward hand. This will help you naturally close the clubface at impact and give you the sidespin you need for your draw. This will also allow you to set up with the clubface square to the target. To help you gain the loft you need, tee the ball up higher and set the ball further ahead in your stance than usual. Now simply swing the clubhead along the inside path. Avoid hinging your wrists until after the clubhead passes the height of your hips for a longer swing.
