Tip From the Archives
Listen for It
Problem
You miss too many short putts because your eyes and head are moving excessively during the stroke.
Cure
Listen for the ball to drop in instead of trying to watch it roll off of your putter and down the line.
Therapy
Do not watch the ball after it leaves your putter head when you are two yards or less from the hole. Once you have hit the ball, it is unlikely that you need to watch it in fear of losing it. If you are right handed and your right eye is dominant if you are left handed and your left eye is dominant then you are more likely to have extra head movement to get a better feel for the shot. If this is the case, take a few extra looks back and forth from the ball to the hole to help visualize your line a little better and build confidence in the shot.
