Lighter Grip Lob

Problem

You have a tendency to grip the club too tight and you are having difficulties with your lob shots.

Cure

Even if you know your hands are gripping the club lightly at stet up, you need to remember to maintain this grip pressure throughout the entire swing. This will help prevent excessive hand action and improve feel.

Therapy

Practice hitting lob shots with your sixty degree wedge and open the clubface. Widen your stance a little and place the ball slightly forward. Remember to form a Y shape with your arms, hands, and club. Think of your Y and lower body staying connected as you make a smooth tempo with soft hands. If you have relaxed arms and soft hands then the clubhead will do the work for you.

Todaywas at the beautiful Range at Bai Yun Shan here in Dalian, China. With elevated greens at 50,100 and 150yards,bunkers the whole lot. LW,SWand PW were 'Smoking'! Light grip,ie 3:10. Slow backswing, accellerating through the ball.ONE suggestion, for once hit thru' the ball before raising your inquisitive heads (which will ruin the shot)to watch it's flight. Stunning results, euphoric is the word.
