Leverage for Compression
Problem
You feel like there is something simple that is preventing you from creating golf ball compression.
Cure
You do not need a severely steep swing to create compression. Instead, focus on gaining leverage in order to create compression.
Therapy
Pay attention to the movement of your forward foot. You do not want the heel to simply lift off of the ground during the backswing. You want the arch side of your foot to turn towards the ground while the outside of it lifts off of the ground during the backswing. Allow your forward knee to move towards your trailing knee and this rolling of the forward foot will feel more natural. This simple movement will go a long way in helping you gain leverage and compression.
