Laying Up
Problem
You really need to par or better on the next hole.
Cure
You are more likely to end up with a bad second shot if you use a club that you are not comfortable with, leaving you with more strokes than necessary. Lay up with a club you hit well and is more likely to leave your ball in the center of the fairway for a better approach to the green. Make sure that you do not lay up too close to a hazard or you might end up in trouble. For more accuracy, do not just try to hit in the middle of the fairway, pick a specific target and commit yourself to the shot. Visualize the ball landing exactly where you want it to land before teeing off and be aggressive.
Therapy
Stress can really ruin a tee shot when it really matters, so make it a point to make an easy swing. Know how far the ball will go if you only hit with a three quarter swing. Practice by hitting at least a dozen balls and write down the distance of each. Use the average of these shots to determine how far to expect if you take a nice and easy swing. To improve your games in the future, try to figure out why you hit so well with this club. It might be the lie of the club that makes the difference; if this is the case, then have the other clubs adjusted so you hit like this with all of your clubs.
Great Tips!! Keep up the good work.
Yes, great tips! My favorite club and a good deep breath usually does the trick. Good advice on adjusting the other clubs.
