Knees For Speed

Problem

You have a good swing but you would love to get more distance off of your tee shot.

Cure

Gradually develop a faster tempo in your knees.

Therapy

If you try to speed up your swing, you are likely to do this by trying to swing your arms faster than your body and throw your swing out of sequence or cause other swing errors. Instead, focus on increasing your tempo by initiating the swing with your lower body faster. Quickly shift your weight onto your back leg by rolling the leading foot and knee away from the target. As you begin your forward swing, almost shove your body forward so that your hips and trailing knee moves towards the target. You will then have more clubhead speed through the ball.
