Tip From the Archives
Kick the Back Knee
Problem
You need to get the ball up and out of the sandpit.
Cure
Initiate the forward swing by kicking the trailing knee forward, towards the target a little. When you do this, the majority of your body weight will shift forward on the front leg.
Therapy
Take the club up sharply in the sand and not around your body. Set your weight on your forward leg and stabilize your lower body. If you want to spin the ball then hit one or two inches behind it. Make sure you keep your head down a little longer than you think you need to in order to help encourage proper contact. You must be relaxed. Soften your hands, wrist, and elbows. Make a smooth, easy practice swing.
