Improve Your Wedge Shots

Problem

You are looking for a golf drill to help you with your wedge shots.

Cure

Focus on improving keeping your legs quiet throughout the shot.

Therapy

You should have about seventy percent of your body weight placed on your forward leg at set up with your wedges. There are two great ways to help you gain this feeling so you can make a nice descending blow onto the ball. Place a squishy ball or a balance disk under your trailing foot as you practice your chipping. This is a helpful reminder of your weight placement at set up and helps keep your legs quiet during the swing. Another thing you can do is challenge yourself to remain balanced while pitching as you stand on two balance disks. You will fall over if you allow your body weight to transfer too much. If you practice this often, you will find that this is an excellent way to stay fit for golf because it requires a lot of muscle strength to remain in balance.
