Tip From the Archives
Ignore the Details
Problem
You feel you have a good read of the break and aim but you still miss a lot of long putts.
Cure
If you are missing a lot of your putts and spending too much time reading the break, chances are you are reading too much into the break. So you should only account for the major slopes when putting.
Therapy
When you are approaching the green, only look to see if you see any major slopes. Stand behind the ball and simply ask yourself, will it break a little left or to the right. Instead of looking at the green from several angles, simply set up, aim to accommodate for the major break in the green, and visualize the ball rolling into the cup.
