Tip From the Archives
Hitting Further
Problem
You want increased clubhead speed for more distance.
Cure
Instead of aiming for your normal target distance, aim for 10 or 20 yards further out. Imagine the ball landing at that location and remember to accelerate through impact.
Therapy
Use weights or swing three clubs at once, preferably with wedges. Take full swings with the additional weight to help increase your muscle strength and make your arms swing faster with the driver after this. As you play or practice at the range, aim for a target further away than you normally would and have confidence that you will reach it. If you are at the range, try to hit 10 yards further with all of your clubs. If you are on the course, play the course for distance. Do not lay up! Push yourself for the fullest distance you are capable of and you might surprise yourself.
I hit much further overall if I swing with a weighted training aid on a daily basis. It shows when I don\\\'t!
