Hit Out of a Divot
Problem
Your ball landed in a divot and you end up skulling it. When you scoop the ball, you make contact with the leading edge of the club, causing it to skull the ball.
Cure
You need a downward blow to help avoid skulled shot due to scooping the ball.
Therapy
Play the ball back in your stance and lean so most of your weight is centered on your front foot. This will help you set up for a steeper swinging plain for a more descending blow. This will cause a lower ball flight so be prepared for the ball to run after landing. Another option is to give you more loft and it will stop just after landing; the only problem with this swing is that it is a little more difficult to perform. Club up, take an open stance with the ball an inch further forward in your stance. Just as you would in the sand, open your clubface just a little and swing the club from out to in.
