Hip Strength
Problem
You need a more powerful swing or sway due to limited turning ability.
Cure
Work on improving the strength and flexibility in your abdominal and hip muscles in order to support a better hip turn.
Therapy
Lie down on the floor on your side. Bend your knees and keep them together as you try to lift your feet as far off of the ground as possible or until your bottom leg is raised at least four inches. Repeat several times then roll over to do it on the other side. Ideally you want to build enough strength so that you can lift your bottom leg up six or more inches off of the ground. To stretch just the muscles around your hips, you can try this floor stretch. Lie flat on your back. Bend your right knee. Pick your left foot up and rest the ankle on the upper part of your right leg, near the knee. Interlace your fingers around your right knee and pull it towards your chest. Keep you head and shoulders on the ground as you are moving your left ankle towards your chest. You should feel the muscles in your hips stretch as you do this. Repeat this stretch on the other side.
