Tip From the Archives

Hip Angle

Problem

You have a slow swing speed due to poor hip positioning and swing path.

Cure

When the swing path is too steep, it will cause you to lose yardage. You can also lose power when your hips are parallel to the ground or if your forward hip is set too low. You should swing the club along an inside path by angling your forward hip about 10 degrees higher than the other hip.

Therapy

Place your club across your hips with the butt of the club pointing towards the target. Then adjust your hips so that the butt of the club is about ten degrees higher than the clubhead. This will to cause you to swing from the inside and encourage a more powerful swing.
