Tip From the Archives
High Draw
Problem
You need a draw but at the same time you require increased loft.
Cure
A draw normally flies low with a right to left spin but because you need more height, you will need to use a higher lofted club and lose distance as a result.
Therapy
Aim your body towards the right of the target with the clubface pointing at it. Use a closed stance to allow the swing path to follow an inside line, along the alignment of your feet. Place the ball forwards in your stance and keep your hands ahead of the ball at address. Allow your hands to rotate so your back hand turns over your forward hand at impact to help encourage lateral spin. Contact should occur closer towards the leading edge of the clubhead instead of the center of it. Your head and bodyweight shift should remain behind the ball throughout the swing to help release your hands early. You should finish high as you complete your follow through.
