Helping the Ball Up
Problem
Even though you try to hit down on the ball, you still feel as if you are somehow trying to scoop the ball up with your long irons.
Cure
The problem with long irons is it may appear that you do not have enough loft. Commit to your club and trust that it will give you the loft you need.
Therapy
A common mistake is that players try to lift the ball up into the air using their hands, wrist, or arms. However, sometimes golfers will unintentionally try to help the ball up by moving their shoulders. Make sure you keep your body down throughout the shot. Focus on having your upper body in the original set up position as you approach impact.
