Head Up

Problem

You cannot seem to get a good coil and keep your head down at the same time.

Cure

You always want to keep the ball in your peripheral vision but you do not necessarily need to keep your head down. Forcing your head down can prevent a full shoulder turn.

Therapy

In contrast to keeping your head down, do the opposite. Keep your chin off of your chest throughout your swing but focus on allowing your eyes to remain parallel to the ground. With your head up, you will have the clearance for a full shoulder turn. You will want have a strong coil so that your forward shoulder is under your chin without them touching. Watch Tour golfers play and you will notice that their heads move a couple of inches sideways during their swing with their heads behind the ball at contact. Do not try force this head movement because this motion should come naturally due to a full shoulder turn.
