Half Shot

Problem

You pull the shot every time you are between clubs and you try to make a half swing.

Cure

Do not try to restrict your body movement and only swing the club with your arms. Even though you are making an abbreviated swing, you still need to turn your shoulders. If you do not, you will end up pulling the shot.

Therapy

One way to avoid making this mistake when you are between clubs is to select the longer club. Choke down really low on the grip and take a full swing. If you decide to try to shorten your swing length, first take a minute to practice your full swing with this club. As you do, feel how far your shoulders and arms turn back halfway during this swing. Then practice your half turn before setting up to the ball. As you set up to the ball, do not think in terms of just swinging your arms to a certain point, instead think about making a half turn.
