Grip Pressure for Putting
Problem
You want to help improve or establish the proper feel for putting by improving your grip.
Cure
Many players grip the putter too tight and do not gain a feel for putting. You want to hold the club about as hard as you would when holding an open tube of toothpaste. Have a friend pull and turn the putter head while you hold the club to help determine the proper grip pressure for putting.
Therapy
Grip the putter as usual. Pick the club off of the ground and have a friend twist it. Your fingers should have a tight enough grip to prevent someone from twisting it easily. The back of your arms should be soft while putting. Have your friend gently pull the putter head away from you. Your fingers should be strong enough for your arms move with it while keeping the back of your arms soft. You want loose arms because it is what gives you the feel for the stroke.
