Green Skid

Problem

Your putts keep skidding across the green.

Cure

Try to finish your stroke at a higher position to encourage a better roll. Ideally, you want to hit the ball at the bottom of the stroke, as you do with your other clubs. Try working on gaining the feel for moving the the club up at an angle after contact with the ball.

Therapy

As you take your putt, start the putterhead moving a little lower than usual. Now, allow the putter to move on an upward angle as you accelerate through the ball. By the time you complete the stroke, you should have a higher finish. If it helps, you can place a long tee into the green, slanted up, towards your target. Place the ball next to the ground where the tee enters the green or just behind this point. Allow the putterhead to trace the angle of the tee.
