Grass Temperature

Problem

You want to know how the temperature changes the blades of grass and speed on the greens.

Cure

The greens will be faster in cold temperatures and slower during warmer temperatures.

Therapy

Slow Summer, Fast Fall is a great way to remember how the heat will change the speed of the greens. The humidity rises in the summer and causes the grass to wilt. The blades of grass will droop so it will become more difficult for the ball to roll through it. When it becomes cold, the grass will retain more water. Instead of the ball rolling through the grass as it does in the summer, the ball rolls fast over the swollen blades of grass in the winter. So, the colder the temperature, the faster the greens.
