Getting Help

Problem

You are suddenly playing poorly and want to know when you need to get professional help for your swing.

Cure

Everyone has good times and bad times out on the course. Sometimes these periods can last for weeks at a time. If you had a great round the last time you played and today you have lost the feel for the game, do not let it get you down. Chances are you are just trying too hard to repeat that round and are messing up your swing. If you cannot figure out what is wrong with your swing, have a friend watch your for any obvious flaws; such as aim, swaying, or slouching. Often old swinging errors will come back. Try to remember any problems you have had with your swing in the past and what you did to overcome them.

Therapy

If this is your second time out and you still cannot find your game then it is time to review the fundamentals. Make sure these include grip, stance, alignment, and swing path. When it is your turn to play, do not think about hitting the ball; instead focus on making a smooth swing. Be sure to keep your hips quiet while maintaining proper rhythm and balance. After going out a third time and you are sure that you have lost the feel for the game then go see a professional for a little extra help. We all need it sometimes!
