Fringe Divot

Problem

The ball landed in a divot around the green.

Cure

You could use a short and high shot that stops quickly in this position. However, the higher you go, the harder it is to control. So, you might want to use a much lower trajectory.

Therapy

Set up as you would for a putting stroke but with a fairway wood or hybrid. Simply use a normal putting stroke. It will help pop the ball out of the divot and get it rolling nicely on the green.

Aren't you allowed to mark the ball and repair the divot?

No, not if it is not on the putting green.

This has really taken a lot of practice as fairway woods tend to make the ball fly much father than the putter..
