Tip From the Archives
Foot Stop
Problem
You tend to decelerate your putts because you realize halfway through the stroke that you are swinging too quickly or using too long of a stroke.
Cure
Focus on trying to shorten the length of your swing with a more consistent pace.
Therapy
Set up as usual for a putt but then move your trailing foot ahead of your body so that if you take the putter back too far, you will hit your foot. Another option is to set a tee in the ground a few inches behind the ball to restrict the length of your backstroke. Bring the club back and gradually accelerate the putterhead through impact.
