Foot Angle
Problem
You are uncertain how you should angle your feet or find that you are losing power or swaying due to angling your feet incorrectly.
Cure
Where your feet are placed on the ground affects how well you can turn your upper body. You will have a greater ability to move onto your front leg and therefore gain a more powerful swing if your forward foot is turned out a little.
Therapy
Your front foot should be flared out a little over 25 degrees and your back foot should be perpendicular to the target. You will have an easier time turning your forward hip during your follow through when your forward foot is turned out. For older golfers or people with limited flexibility, you will be able to prevent swaying and encourage more of a hip turn by flaring your back foot out 15 degrees. Be careful, you will lose stability due to a loss of turning resistance in your back leg if you turn your back foot out more than 20 degrees. Practice swinging with your feet flared out at the suggested angles then try turning your feet up to 5 degrees more or less until you find what is most comfortable for you and gives you the greatest driving distance.
