Flop It

Problem

You have a hard time making flop shots with your sand wedge.

Cure

If you cannot make a flop shot with your sand wedge then select your lob and make sure you use the maximum amount of bounce as possible.

Therapy

Take your normal set up for a lob wedge then lean the shaft of the club away from the target; this will increase the bounce of the club. Take your normal backswing and forward swing but keep your legs still. The trailing edge of the club will go into the ground as the leading edge slides under the ball. To avoid reducing the loft of the club, allow your arms to quickly swing towards the target side of your body during the follow through. Increasing the length of your swing will only improve the distance by a little but it will make the trajectory much higher.
