Flipping at Impact

Problem

You feel as if you are flipping the club through the impact zone.

Cure

Check to make sure that you are not bringing the club up to high. Some players with this problem will bring the club to the top of the swing so that the shaft of the club is pointing straight up towards the sky.

Therapy

Think of making a more rounded swing with a good shoulder turn. Work on flattening your forward wrist at impact and then extending it out as you move past the ball. A great way to get a feel for this is to hit the toe of the club into the ground. Just keep sticking it into the dirt as if you are trying to chop a weed out of the ground. Feel the pressure in back of your forward wrist as you do this drill. Your forward wrist should be straight or even bowed just a little. This is the feeling you want to have at impact.

Is this the same 'feel' that Trevino mentions in learning to keep the back of his left hand aiming for the pen through impact?
