Tip From the Archives
Flexed Knee
Problem
You hit inconsistently and lack distance.
Cure
Check to make sure you are not straightening your trailing leg during the forward swing, forcing you to stand up and mishit the ball.
Therapy
Set the back of a chair or your golf bag up behind you as you set up to the ball. Set it so that it touches your bottom at address. Now swing the club as usual but be certain that your bottom remains in contact with it throughout the entire swing. Because you are keeping your trailing knee flexed, you should find it easier to shift your weight on this side during the backswing and make a better hip turn. You will then be able to create a better coil and power through the ball for more distance.
