Fit and Balanced
Problem
You step one of your legs backwards during your swing.
Cure
Your are probably trying to swing too quickly and lose your footing. Remember to swing within yourself and to pay attention to your balance.
Therapy
Abdominal strength is essential for having correct balance and for a powerful swing. There are many options available for building balance and abdominal strength. There are a lot more options out there than just doing situps, pushups and crunches. Try working out by using balance discs, boards, or even a balance board that works with gaming software. Practice your swing in shoes with no tread or even barefoot. This will make it all too easy to fall if you swing too hard; then you will start to focus on maintaining a balanced swing.
I have been given two suggestions to help with this at the driving range as I tend to sway on the backswing: 1) put a golf ball under the outside edge of my back foot (and stand on it) when swinging. 2) hit with my feet together - this really helped me find balance.
