Fall Line

Problem

You do not know the definition of a fall-line or how to find it on a putting green.

Cure

Look at the green without considering your ball position and just look for any fall-lines. A fall-line is a distinct area that indicates that the terrain drops down. This should be the most obvious areas where the ball would roll straight downhill without any other influences changing its path. The same logic applies if you are putting up the hill that it should roll straight because no other obstacles will interfere with its path.

Therapy

Sometimes it is easier to imagine what water would do if poured onto the green. Where would the water run? Now apply the same logic to how the ball would roll if at the same location. Knowing where the fall-lines are, you now know the major points where the ball will roll straight downhill on the putting green.
