Extend Ahead

Problem

You need to work on gaining more distance off of the tee box.

Cure

Try to increase your arm extension by hitting a ball in a position much further ahead than usual. This will give you a longer, flatter impact area for better contact, which will give you more distance.

Therapy

Set up with the driver with your normal stance but move the golf ball about ten inches further ahead in your stance. The ball should now on the target side of your forward foot. Work on trying to make contact with both the ball and tee by making a full turn with long, extended arms. It might take a while before you can make good contact several times in a row. You want to make sure you are extending fully through the golf ball. Once you feel confident with this nice long swing technique, return to a normal set up but use the extended swing. This will help you hit through the ball with a wider swing and flatter hitting area for more distance.
