Tip From the Archives
Expected Roll
Problem
You need to improve on accuracy.
Cure
When selecting a club, be certain that you are taking in account for the amount of roll to expect once the ball hits the ground. So select your target, decide where the ball will land with your club, and how much roll you should have to get you to the target area. Just keep in mind that if the pin is cut close to the edge of the green that it will most likely be safer for you to select a target a few yards on the other side of the hole.
Therapy
Practice hitting all of your clubs to get a feel for how much overall distance you achieve and how much of that distance is the ball rolling on the ground. Naturally, it would be best to practice your chipping, lobbing, and pitching around a practice green. However, if you do not have one to work with, play a round and take careful notes on each shot.
