Tip From the Archives

Eight Iron Push

Problem

You have a clean shot out of the sand bunker and you have plenty of room to run the ball up to or on the green.

Cure

Try using your eight iron for a roll a lot like a bump and run. Aim for the rough and you will should get a gentle roll on the green.

Therapy

Set your hands just ahead of the ball and place the ball just ahead of the center of your stance. Try to push the ball out with the sand by hitting about two inches behind the ball. The set up for this shot should feel as if you are making a chip shot but it will be a little more aggressive with a fuller finish.
