Dragging Wedge Shot

Problem

You have a slight uphill lie with only a small area on the green that will be safe to land the ball at. Luckily, the grass is cut low where your ball is sitting.

Cure

Try to put a little more spin on the golf ball to make it stick on the green.

Therapy

To help create more spin, try dragging the clubhead during impact and past the ball. This will impart extra spin when you keep the clubface open through the shot. Be certain to set the ball back in your stance. Make your usual backswing but as you start to come near the ground, make almost a dragging motion with your arms. If you are a left handed player you can create a right to left spin by dragging the clubhead to the right as you move through the ball and well into your follow through. If you are a right handed player you can create a left to right spin by dragging the clubhead to the left.
