Tip From the Archives
Drag It
Problem
Your swing is too steep and this causes you to lose distance.
Cure
Check and make sure you are not picking the club up off of the ground too soon during your backswing. If you are, you are likely to hit the ground before contact or see too much loft.
Therapy
Increase the arm extension of your forward arm during the backswing. To help achieve this, allow the clubhead to brush the grass behind the ball for about a foot during the takeaway. This will prevent you from picking the club up too soon during your backswing while lengthening the swing. You should see more distance and improved contact with the ball.
This is such a good tip that I think is largely ignored by most amature golfers. Get this wrong and too many compensations need to be introduced. Remember;Low and slow on the backswing.
